About

Who We Are

Insight Meditation of the Mid-Columbia (IMMC) is a Buddhist meditation group located in south-central Washington State that practices in the Insight Meditation (Vipassana) tradition. However, anyone interested in meditation practice is welcome to join us. We meet several times a week for meditation in Richland, Washington and also online. We also hold daylong meditation retreats, and meditation classes. You can find a description of our activities here or go to our Events Calendar to see upcoming activities.

People

Insight Meditation of the Mid-Columbia is incorporated as a nonprofit religious corporation in the State of Washington. You can find out more about the people who guide the meditation group here.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

We are aware that access to meditation and spiritual practice can be difficult for many people due to biases they have experienced due to race, ethnicity, age, economic security, religion, ability, gender, sexual orientation, and other aspects of their social setting. We commit to being open to anyone interested in meditation and spiritual practice. Our classes and programs are offered by donation, and are open to everyone regardless of ability to pay.

Ethical Conduct

We believe that ethical conduct is the basis for meditation and spiritual practice. Because of that, the members of Insight Meditation of the Mid-Columbia aspire to follow the ethical guidelines of the Buddha, known as the five lay precepts. Please go to our Community Code of Ethics page to learn more about the precepts and our Teacher Code of Ethics as well.

Healing, Ethics & Reconciliation Guidelines

If anyone ever feels that they are experiencing harm because the precepts are not being followed within the Sangha (the IMMC community), please go to our H.E.A.R. Guidelines page to learn how the process works so that a path to reconciliation can be found.
