Updated Resources for Meditation and Support

As many of you know, Vietnamese Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, known affectionately as Thay, passed away a couple of weeks ago. He was the originator of the term, Engaged Buddhism, and focused on the practice of mindfulness and on the ways that our practice of mindfulness and compassion can support us as we work for positive change in the world. Oren Jay Sofer put together a brief tribute to the impact that Thay had on his practice: A Modern Buddhist Master: Honoring the Legacy of Thich Nhat Hanh.

Lion’s Roar also provided this tribute that includes information on Thay’s life:  Remembering Thich Nhat Hanh (1926-2022)

Finally, there’s a warm article from the author and activist, bell hooks, who we also lost recently, on the importance of Thay’s teaching for people of color:  A Beacon of Light: Bell Hooks on Thich Nhat Hanh

To honor Black History Month, Spirit Rock provided access to several articles and talks by Black meditation teachers that you can find here: In Honor of Black History Month
