Cortland Dahl and Richard Davidson are well known scientific researchers at the University of Wisconsin. Both are also longtime practitioners of Buddhist meditation, and Cortland Dahl is a meditation teacher in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. They developed a framework for wellbeing based on the research results that they and others have developed in the last few decades, finding that awareness, connection, insight, and purpose were all closely connected with a mind and heart that can be resilient and flourish, even in difficult times. Their approach to meditation and wellbeing will be the focus of the meditation retreat led by Chris Murray this weekend. You can find out more about their approach in this article they wrote for Lion’s Roar: How to Flourish They also used that framework to design a meditation app that incorporates their findings. The app has won several awards, and is available for both Apple and Android phones. The app is free and supported by donations. You can find it here: Well Being Tools

Gil Fronsdal wrote a good introduction to mindfulness of the body, one of the primary forms of meditation taught by the Buddha. You can find his article here: The Body at the Center
