9:30 am: Wednesday Morning In-Person Meditation9:30 am: Wednesday Morning In-Person Meditation – In addition to our regular online meetings, we are now holding outdoor in-person meditation meetings on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m., at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1322 Kimball Avenue in Richland. We meditate for half an hour, followed by an optional time for sharing and conversation after meditation. No problem if you want to just meditate and then leave. The sessions are outdoors beneath a large tent that has no side walls, providing shade and great ventilation. There is parking behind the church, near the tent. The tent is in a grassy field and has no seating, so please bring whatever you'd like to sit on for meditation, e.g., folding chairs, benches, cushions, or a blanket.
There is enough room beneath the tent that we can have six-foot spacing between all participants, so masks will not be required, though you're welcome to wear one if you feel more comfortable. Family groups can be seated closer to one another than six feet.
While we are meeting outdoors, we have dropped the requirement that people be vaccinated in order to attend in-person meditation sessions. Because we have several members in the meditation group who have compromised immune systems, we will continue to work to protect the health of our most sensitive members. So, we'll continue to follow guidance from State and Local health departments, and we'll review our vaccination and masking policies when the meditation sessions move indoors again.
Our Wednesday morning online meeting is available as well if you are out of town or just don't wish to meet in person at this time. The online meeting also starts at 9:30 a.m. See the Events Calendar for details on how to join in. We're looking forward to welcoming some of you in person and being there online for others. We are happy that we can continue to support one another in our meditation practice. 9:30 am: Wednesday Morning Online Meditation9:30 am: Wednesday Morning Online Meditation – Join IMMC for our regular Wednesday online meditation meeting, every Wednesday, 9:30 am - 10:30 am. 8:00 pm: Atomic Cities Peace Memorial8:00 pm: Atomic Cities Peace Memorial – The 39th annual Atomic Cities Peace Memorial ceremony, commemorating the Nagasaki atomic bombing and sponsored by World Citizens for Peace, will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 8:00 p.m., in the Activity Room of the Richland Community Center at 500 Amon Park Drive. The one-hour program of song, speech and prayer will remember the past with hope for the future. Highlight of the ceremony is ringing of the "Bell of Peace" model – a gift from the mayor of Nagasaki to the city of Richland on the 40th anniversary of the atomic bombing. The "Bell of Peace" is a model of a bell that was recovered from the ruins of a church at ground zero in Nagasaki. In accordance with the Memorial's theme of reconciliation, the "Bell of Peace" is rung in memory of those who died on both sides of the war – the Americans who died at Pearl Harbor as well as the Japanese who died in Nagasaki. Because of Richlanders' historic role in producing the plutonium that fueled the Nagasaki atomic bomb, the "Bell of Peace" model uniquely symbolizes the spirit of reconciliation. The public is invited. PLEASE NOTE: If fully vaccinated for Covid, masks are optional. If not, wear a mask and socially distance. |
